Hyundai sells cars damaged in Tianjin Port accident after repairs meet standards

Statement on the sale of slightly damaged imported Hyundai vehicles in Tianjin Port


Hyundai Motor (China) has handed over all the imported Hyundai vehicles damaged by the fire at the scene of the explosion to the Tianjin Municipal Government for destruction in accordance with the statement issued after the "8-12 Tianjin Port Explosion".


The 1,008 vehicles that were located at the periphery of the explosion center at the time of the accident only have surface defects such as minor external scratches or partial breakage caused by foreign objects falling from the parking place, and the vehicles have normal functions and safety performance, which meet the quality standard of new Hyundai imported vehicles after repair.


In order to confirm the actual state of the said vehicle, our company commissioned a professional organization to conduct a rigorous inspection of the said vehicle.


1. on September 10/14, 2015, Tianjin Automobile Inspection Center accredited by AQSIQ conducted vehicle sampling test for the interior air quality;


2. on September 14, 20, 2015, all vehicle inspection tests were conducted by a team of experts from the vehicle manufacturer - Hyundai Motor Company Limited of South Korea;


3. 13 April 2016, vehicle sampling and testing for interior chemical substances by China Certification & Inspection Group Tianjin Co. Ltd. authorized by the AQSIQ and DEKRA, an internationally renowned professional quality testing and certification body;


4. on June 20 and 24, 2016, all vehicle inspections were conducted by a team of experts from the quality department of the vehicle manufacturer, Hyundai Motor Company Limited.


All of the above inspection and testing results proved that the 1,008 vehicles did not have any special quality problems caused by the explosion accident.


Therefore, we have decided to start selling the said vehicles from July 13, 2016 onwards. The sales principles of the vehicles are announced as follows:


1. sales channel:


The above vehicles will be sold through our company's duly authorized imported Hyundai brand authorized dealer network.


2. Informing obligation:


The Company will require the dealers to inform the consumers in writing of the status of the vehicles at the time of selling the said vehicles, and the dealings can be carried out on the condition that the consumers are informed and agree to accept the information.


3. Obligation to repair:


Our company will require the dealer to repair the above vehicle to the new car quality standard free of charge by polishing and removing foreign objects, replacing air conditioning filter and air filter, painting or replacing accessories for paint scratches and discolored parts, and sheet metal and painting for damaged parts of the body.


4. Warranty obligation:


The above vehicle will enjoy the brand new vehicle warranty service and three packages service provided by Hyundai Motor (China) officially.


5. Reduced price sales principle:


The above vehicles will be sold at a reduced price according to the actual damage and repair situation.
